New Partnership Manager for Pastoral Genomics

27 January 2016

Dr Ed Butler has been appointed as the Partnership Manager for the Pastoral Genomics consortium. Dr Butler replaces Damian Diack, who has made a significant contribution to the establishment of the new Pastoral Genomics programme over the past year.

Dr Butler has had considerable experience in science strategy and management through managing Antarctica New Zealand’s science programme from 2008 to 2015. Dr Butler also worked for Crop and Food Research and MBIE’s science investments branch.  This experience and these skills are well aligned with the requirements for the ongoing running of Pastoral Genomics.

The Chair, Dr Dunbier said that “the Board is sad to see Mr Diack leave Pastoral Genomics. He has made a huge contribution to the development of the new programme and his knowledge of the sector and broad skill set have made the transition run smoothly.”

Dr Dunbier notes that “the skills that Dr Butler brings to the Pastoral Genomics consortium will facilitate the delivery phase of the programme – particularly through his track record of getting research to deliver and his overall knowledge of the science system. The Board is pleased to be able to have Dr Butler in the programme and look forward to working with him over the coming years“.
